World War One Memorial in Conweiler

Pictures and text by Mark R. Hatlie

These pictures were taken on 24 July, 2006 in Conweiler. The memorial is located on the main road through town down in front of the church. It is barely noticeable. The writing is faded almost to the point of being illegible.

The writing at the soldiers' feet reads, "Being ready is everything."
The two stone plates left and right of the soldiers list the names of the fallen and their dates of death. Along the top it reads, "Dedicated to the fallen."
We see that the Haass family lost six people.
Over the plate on the right, it reads, "Their spirit lives on."
