Memorial to the Battle of Ponte Dirillo near Gela

This memorial is located 22 miles northeast of Gela, Sicily. The monument commemorates the lives lost at the Battle of Ponte Dirillo. The photos were taken on 14 December, 2009.


This is a close up of the wall. It shows the "A" insignia, the 50th Anniversary insignia and the names of the fallen soldiers. You can also see in the picture that someone left a candle there recently in the memory of the dead.
This is a picture of the German "pill box" that is above the memorial. You can see the outline of the roof of the building the memorial is on with the German bunker directly above it.
This is a view from the road. You can see the memorial is hung on a small private building.
