Memorials to baker guild members, Pforzheim

Pictures and text by Mark R. Hatlie

These pictures were taken on 15 April, 2006 in the main cemetery in Pforzheim.

The memorial stands on a corner in the middle of the cemetery.
The front top reads, "Dedicated by the Baden Bakers' Guild Association." Below the lions, it reads, "In remembrance / The Baden bakers mourns its commendabel chairman baker-Meister / Karl Bottner" and his wife Elise, both of whom were killed on 23 February, 1945. It goes on to read: "[we also mourn] all those Pforzheim colleagues and their families who were killed in the air raid of 23 February, 1945 / and their unforgettable colleagues who lost their lives in the fierce struggle of the Second World War 1939-1945."
The left side of the column lists the names of those who fell in World War Two.
The right side lists those who were killed in the air raid of 23 February, 1945.
